Clinical Pharmacist Appointments (patient bookable)
Mr Taariq Miah, MRPharmS from King’s College London, Independent Prescriber, GPhC Qualified in 2017
Hi, my name is Taariq and I am a clinical pharmacist working within the GP surgery. I have worked a number of years in both community pharmacy and GP practices and I am able to prescribe medication if required. In order to become a pharmacist, we spend over 4 years in training to a master’s level and we complete additional qualifications to be able to prescribe, as I have done.
You can find telephone appointments with me both online and by calling the practice.
You should book an appointment with me for any of the following:
- Questions about your medication
- Starting a new medication
- Stopping a medication
- Experiencing side effects from your medication
- Changing your medication
In addition, you can book in for certain minor health conditions with me such as:
Hay fever, insect bites, eczema or skin complaints, nappy rash, cradle cap, eye infections, constipation (new problem), thread worm, hemorrhoids/piles (new problem), thrush, throat infection/pain, asthma flare ups, coughs (if it’s been less than 3 weeks) and low mood.
A core part of my role involves conducting medication reviews, for long-term conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma or COPD and routine/simple mediation reviews.
Finally, I assess the practice’s repeat prescription requests, so I may call you from time to time if you have requested a medication that is not on repeat.
Pharmacy Technician Appointments:
Mr Adnaan Patel, BSc Hons Biomedical Science, NVQ Level 3 Registered Pharmacy Technician
Hi, my name is Adnaan and I am the pharmacy technician working within the GP practice. I used to work at Boots in Stamford Hill, so I may know some of you already!
My job involves processing everyone’s repeat prescription requests and I check things such as:
- If your medication needs to be synchronised
- If you need blood tests to monitor your medications
- if you are due your medication
- If you are under/over using
- Making sure you’ve had your annual health checks or medication reviews
Part of my role also involves triaging or assessing a patient’s condition when they call in. I have a clinical background and therefore I can direct you to the most appropriate clinician, whether that is the GP or the pharmacist.
If you have questions about your medicines, you can ask to have a call back from me – which will usually be on the same day!
